SUMMARY:Green Building Break - Improving Façade Designs by Comparing Automated vs. Manual Solar Shading
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \nHow can automation contribute to enhanced well-being and more sustainable interior environments? When it comes to solar shading\, automation can ensure the comfort and well-being of occupants through a responsive system that balances natural daylight and shading needs in response to exterior conditions. This program will provide an understanding of innovative design trends including current market drivers\, comparing high performance glass vs. high performance shading and how to increase visual and thermal comfort by automating the balance of natural and artificial light. This course will build the connection between the influence of current design trends\, on building performance using automated facades. We will discuss design strategies using automated solar management and its impact on these design trends. \nFEATURED SPEAKER: \n\n\nAndy Rittenhouse is a a Specifications manager with Somfy Systems a world-leading supplier of motorization and control solutions. Andy’s focus is on commercial business solutions and smart home technology relating to window coverings and natural daylight management. With a passion for Healthy and sustainable building design Andy has achieved both LEED AP BD+C\, and WELL AP. Andy started his career in the solar shading industry in 1999 in Houston\, Texas. Andy served on the NFRC 100A and 200A 2010 window attachment subcommittees. He has been conducting seminars and training nationally for the recognition of dynamic and automated solar shading for over 25 years. \n\n  \nREGISTER NOW \n  \nIn 2024\, our Coffee Break Series will transition to a slightly longer Green Building Break Series. These sessions will take place on the 3rd or 4th Fridays from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Join your Green Buildings Are Better community on Zoom for a free learning lunch break discussing green building and sustainability hot topics with local and national featured guests! Check our CoffeeBreakPlaylist on YouTube for recordings of our 2023 sessions! \nCONTINUING EDUCATION: Available for 1 Learning Unit with HSW. Our speaker Andy Rittenhouse will collect and submit attendees AIA numbers for credit. Must attend the live webinar to receive credit. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDiscover construction market sustainability drivers and automation examples.\nUnderstand automation of building envelopes/façades using innovative and sustainable design strategies.\nRelate sustainable building design with the benefits of automation.\nPromote design based on the value of automation.\n\nConsent to use photographic images: \nThis event will be recorded and shared on our website. Registration/attendance at\, or participation in Missouri Gateway Green Building Council programs and activities constitutes an agreement by the registrants to allow the organization to use and distribute (both now and in the future) the attendee’s image\, in photographs\, video\, and electronic reproductions of such events and activities.
