After six years of research and development\, SHARC Energy Systems has moved into commercialization of its patented SHARC™ and PIRANHA™ systems. With new offices in Glasgow\, Scotland\, and successful installations across North America\, the UK\, and Australia\, SHARC Energy Systems is growing its business worldwide. One of SHARC’s recent projects is in Scotland\, where its wastewater heat exchange system works by intercepting wastewater from a town sewer line operated by Scottish Water. The technology pulls from the natural warmth contained within wastewater and transfers the heat via a heat exchanger. The recovered heat is then sent through heat pumps to generate the appropriate temperatures for use in the nearby college campus\, and supplies the majority of the college’s annual heating and hot water demand\, saving 150 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions annually. The project recently won the Best Innovation Award at the Scottish Green Energy Awards. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Michael Albertson\, President & CEO at SHARC Energy \nMichael Albertson serves as President & CEO of SHARC Energy and is a renewable thermal energy expert with over 40 years of experience. SUMMARY:Monthly Program - Moving the Needle On Building Performance in St. Louis
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \nWe are excited to partner with the Building Energy Exchange – St. Louis to take a look at local building performance data and to discuss ways we can work together towards a more energy efficient and climate resilient future! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n St. Louis has been a leader in moving the needle on buildings here in the Midwest\, working to make our buildings cleaner and healthier places for our community. The Building Energy Awareness Ordinance passed in the City of St. Louis in 2017 and requires most buildings over 50\,000 square feet to benchmark and report their energy and water use annually. Compliance rates have risen to around 90%. Following in the City’s footsteps\, Clayton recently passed a similar ordinance for buildings over 100\,000 square feet. This simple task opens many doors that we didn’t have the information to unlock before. Join us for a discussion with local experts and stakeholders about what we can learn from the valuable information that benchmarking has provided so far. What story does it tell us about our buildings and how they’re performing now? How are our buildings performing compared to national averages and the City’s Building Energy Performance Standard?* What opportunities does it reveal? How can we use this data to unlock the hidden potential in our buildings – driving further energy efficiency improvements\, reducing greenhouse gas emissions\, and boosting local economic growth and job creation within the City of St Louis and the broader region \n*Building on the 2017 Ordinance requiring benchmarking\, the City of St. Louis passed a Building Energy Performance Standard Ordinance (BEPS) in 2020\, which requires that all municipal\, institutional\, commercial and multifamily buildings equal to or greater than 50\,000 square feet must consume energy at or below a standard set by the City. The BEPS aligns with the City’s climate goals and its Pathways to 100% Clean Energy report which recommends a BEPS. Pursuing this policy also aligns with the City’s goals in making significant carbon reductions. \n \n \n \n \n \n ADMISSIONFree – but please register! \nREGISTER NOW \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Adam Rustige\, Director of Energy Analytics\, Saint Louis University\nAdam Rustige has been the Director of Energy Analytics at St. Louis University since October 2024. SUMMARY:Evening Program - Annual Green Building Showcase
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW!  \nJoin us for our Annual Green Building Showcase! Each year we highlight 3-4 key projects in the region that are helping to foster sustainable\, prosperous and healthy places to live\, work and learn. This year\, we’ll take a look at projects previously featured in past showcases to see how they are currently performing. Our invited presenters will share stories about the successes and realities of operating and occupying these buildings after construction. How are these projects performing 10 to 15 years later – both operationally and experientially – compared to original sustainability or LEED targets and goals? Presenters will explore lessons learned in the transition from construction to owner takeover and the reality of keeping efficiency and conservation methods in place during real use\, drawing from both lived experience and performance data\, where available. \n Featured Projects + Presenters: \n\nCrossroads College Prep | Howard Granok\, Science Department Chair\n2008 LEED Platinum Development in JeffVanderLou | Josh Smith\, Director of Construction\, Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis\n@4240 Duncan at Cortex | Ben Daugherty\, Operations and Sustainability Project Manager\, Cortex Innovation District\nJanuary Hall at Washington University | James Roseberry\, Director of Sustainability\, Trivers + Jim Kappeler\, Senior Principal\, IMEG\nNational Great Rivers Research and Education Center | Jessica Mohlman\, Director of Environmental Education\n\nREGISTER NOW!  \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Crossroads College Prep\, Presented by Howard Granok\, Science Department Chair \nCrossroads is a middle and high school located in the Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhood.
