SUMMARY:Evening Program: A Forum on Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW! \nWe know that buildings have a big impact on greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint. We also know there are a myriad of ways that buildings can have a positive impact – through energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, smarter materials choices and more. Join us for a forum on climate action to dive into this topic from the perspective of building industry professional organizations. \nWe are thrilled to bring together leaders from several local organizations to discuss what each organization is doing at the national and local levels to address climate change and strive for better performance in our buildings. Participants will share information about national and local action – including climate targets\, standards\, and goals specific to their organizations. Our board chair\, James Roseberry\, will moderate a round-table discussion on commonalities\, challenges\, and how we can work together to enact more local change\, leveraging the programs of each organization. \nParticipating organizations & speakers: \n\nAssociated General Contractors of Missouri\nSondra Rotty | LEED AP BD+C\nSondra is the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Tarlton\, where she leads construction operations\, manages market leaders\, and works closely with Human Resources to attract and retain the industry’s top talent. Sondra joined Tarlton as a Project Engineer after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Missouri University of S&T. She earned her Master’s in Engineering Management from MS&T while working full time. Sondra has worked on numerous LEED projects and most of her construction experience has centered around large\, complex projects with fast-track time frames. Sondra is an advocate for women in construction and for girls’ self-discovery. She has volunteered for Girls Inc. of St. Louis and the Society of Women Engineers. She currently serves on the Associated General Contractors of Missouri Board of Directors as the Building Division Vice Chairman. \n\nAmerican Institute of Architects St. Louis – Committee on the Environment\nMonica Moore-Zigo | LEED AP BD+C\nMonica is a Senior Laboratory Architect with Gensler. She is an experienced architectural design and technology leader with background in a broad range of project types and markets\, including: laboratories\, higher education\, K-12\, historic renovations\, corporate\, and non-profit. She is especially interested in projects with an emphasis on sustainability. Monica earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Sam Fox School of Design at Washington University. Monica is the Chair of AIA-St. Louis’ Committee on the Environment and serves on the International Institute of Sustainable Laboratories St. Louis Chapter Board as program committee chair. \n\nConstruction Specifications Institute – Greater St. Louis Chapter\nDerek Maschek\nDerek is the Director of Design at Keely Construction. He has 26 years of experience with job responsibilities including business development\, conceptual design\, and design development. He has a Bachelor’s of Architecture from Kansas State University. Derek currently serves as the board President for the Construction Specifications Institute – Greater St. Louis Chapter. \n  \n\nIlluminating Engineering Society – St. Louis Section\nLisa J. Reed | PE\, IALD\, MIES\, LEED AP BD+C\nAs Principal of Reed Burkett Lighting Design\, Lisa contributes a passion for lighting and a spirit of collaboration to her projects. She delights in bringing spaces to life with quality lighting\, and concern for the environment influences her work. Lisa has over 30 years of experience\, ranging from energy management to electrical engineering to lighting design. She is an advocate for diversity in lighting\, focusing on creating a better workplace for women\, parents\, and all people. She founded Ladies of Lighting in St. Louis and helped expand WILD (Women in Lighting + Design) across the US. She currently serves as an Illuminating Engineering Society – St. Louis Section Board Member and on the MGGBC Engagement & Outreach Committee. \n\nStructural Engineering Institute\nJanet Ranf | PE\, SE\, LEED AP\nJanet Ranf is an Associate at KPFF. She is a registered Professional and Structural engineer with eighteen years of project experience. She holds Bachelor and Master Degrees in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. Janet joined KPFF’s St. Louis office in 2021\, where she has shared her expertise on significant projects including the expansion and renovation of Powell Symphony Hall\, the new ProtoPlex building at Missouri University of S&T\, and other academic and athletic facilities at private schools in the St. Louis area. Janet has a passion for learning as well as teaching. She mentors younger engineers and is responsible for coordinating the office’s continuing education seminars. \n\nMissouri Gateway Green Building Council\nJames Roseberry\, AIA \, CDT\, LEED AP BD+C (Moderator)\nJames is the Director of Sustainability and an Associate with Trivers.
