SUMMARY:Data\, Data Everywhere: Maximizing Sustainability in Data Center Development\, Design & Operations - in partnership with ASHRAE STL and I2SL STL
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \nProgram Presented in partnership with: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n With the growth of cloud-based computing and the recent rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)\, data centers are becoming the key critical infrastructure of our digital world. This exploding growth has propelled an unprecedented surge in data center development as entities race to secure the resources and infrastructure needed to meet current and future demand. While innovations like AI can leverage incredible computing power with amazing potential benefits\, they are also incredibly resource-intensive processes\, which means that the data centers built to support them have extensive needs for energy\, land and water to function optimally. \nIn the race to develop this critical infrastructure\, companies are having to grapple with the environmental impacts of its enormous energy and water needs\, as they reconcile the need to meet current demands while considering long-term costs\, sustainability goals and impacts on local communities. Fortunately\, innovations in computing technology\, building systems\, and renewable energy production for data centers have the potential to make this critical infrastructure more resource-efficient. \nThis program brings together experts from the field to discuss current practices and emerging trends in strategies for optimizing energy efficiency and reducing energy and water demand in data centers. Participants will learn about tools available to integrate sustainability principles into data center projects to achieve high-performance\, energy-efficient\, and environmentally responsible outcomes. Our presenters bring a wealth of experience and unique perspectives that will shed light on strategies throughout project development from site assessment to design of building systems to operations in response to a range of client needs. Join us to learn about the opportunities and challenges in making data center development\, design and operations more sustainable. \n \n \n \n \n \n Thanks to our sponsors!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n SPEAKERS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n John Weale\, Principal\, Introba\nA mechanical engineer with 25 years of experience\, John is a specialist in critical facilities ranging from secure airport datacenters to industrial laboratories to teaching laboratories. His recent designs have included data center facilities ranging from 5MW to 90 MW; all-electric laboratory buildings\, which meet carbon-reduction goals of clients and offer a robust\, efficient\, and low-maintenance facility; and corporate campus systems for major technology clients. \nHe has been a lead designer or key technical advisor on some of the most highly sustainable projects\, including six LEED Platinum certified projects\, seven Net Zero projects\, and two Living Building Challenge feasibility projects. He believes the key to creating simple\, high-efficiency\, and low-cost systems is an integrated approach with close team coordination that makes building architecture\, lighting\, and mechanical systems work together as a single system. This approach is equally valid for minimizing cost and points of failure in a data center design as it is for achieving a net zero campus building. John has worked on projects in all key sectors\, including government\, technology office\, education\, and multi-family. He has been published in ASHRAE Journal and contributed to the Data Center Handbook: Plan\, Design\, Build\, and Operations of a Smart Data Center. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jeremy Nolen\, Director of Business Development – Renewables\, Farnsworth Group \nWith a background in renewable energy project development\, Jeremy has worked with clients for the last decade through funding/financing\, system design\, procurement\, construction\, commissioning\, and ongoing maintenance. Jeremy’s expertise spans solar\, wind\, BESS\, hydrogen\, and other technologies\, with projects totaling hundreds of megawatts across the United States. He has served various industries\, including data centers\, utilities\, municipalities\, commercial\, industrial\, healthcare\, federal/state\, K-12 schools\, and higher education facilities. Jeremy focuses on a client’s energy transition towards a more sustainable environment. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Erik Lueders\, Director of Sustainable Technology\, Mastercard\nErik has served in the Sustainability profession for 19 years\, most recently as Mastercard’s Director of Sustainable Technology since 2021. In this role\, Erik develops and drives sustainable technology strategy across business units. He leads efforts to create the sustainability data landscape across Mastercard’s technology infrastructure and environments to drive actionable insights and execution in support of the company’s Net Zero by 2040 goal. Erik has an MBA from Webster University and a BS in Forestry from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  His professional credentials include LEED AP O+M\, Certified Energy Manager\, Accredited Sustainability Advisor for data centers\, and Green Software Practitioner. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ADMISSIONFree for MGGBC\, ASHRAE-St. Louis\, I2SL-St. Louis Members and full-time studentsASHRAE and I2SL members please register with your respective organizations to get member pricing!$25.00 for non-members \nREGISTER NOW \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n Thanks to our sponsors!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n CONTINUING EDUCATION: To be submitted for AIA CES. \nCODE OF CONDUCTMissouri Gateway Green Building Council (MGGBC) is committed to providing a safe\, productive\, inclusive\, and welcoming environment for all participants attending our events in person or virtually.
