We will hear from Council leadership\, visit with committees\, and you’ll have the chance to participate in our State of the Council raffle – more details coming soon! \nThis event is FREE with refreshments provided\, but please register! \nWHERE: Five Oaks on Warson Community Center\n1200 North Warson Rd | Olivette\, MO 63132 \nWHEN: Wednesday\, January 29\, 2025\, 5:00 – 7:00 PM\nRemarks at 6 pm | Raffle Drawings at 6:50\, must be present to win \n\nThis year’s State of the Council venue showcases what it looks like when a community center embraces a community-driven\, holistic approach to going green. Sustainability features include access to daylight and views to the outdoors\, recycled finishes\, native plants and habitat restoration\, stormwater management\, night sky and bird friendly exterior lighting and more. One special feature is a large hickory tree that had to be removed from the site\, which was wood kiln-dried and repurposed as the lobby’s fireplace mantle. On going green operations means no single-use plastics on site\, nature-based art throughout the building\, and a connection to the extension of the Centennial Greenway—a two-mile-long trail along I-170 linking the communities of Clayton\, University City\, Ladue and Olivette. \nREGISTER NOW \nThanks to our event sponsors!\n\n\n\n  \nConsent to use photographic images: \nThis event will be recorded and shared on our website. SUMMARY:Green Building Break - Tour of Five Oaks on Warson Community Center
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \n\n\n\n\nWhat does it look like when a community center embraces a community-driven\, holistic approach to going green? Join us on July 19th for a tour of the new Five Oaks on Warson community center designed by KAI. Motivated by input from city officials and residents\, the center was designed to embrace its natural setting\, incorporate natural materials in its construction and maximize visual connections between interior and exterior. On the tour\, Beverly Tucker Knight\, Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Olivette\, will share more about how the center embodies sustainability from inside and out\, from design\, construction and operations of the building\, to native landscaping and integration with the extension of the Centennial Greenway in collaboration with Great Rivers Greenway.
