SUMMARY:Understanding Building Automation and Best Practices - Springfield\, MO
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \nThis event is presented in partnership by Missouri Gateway Green Building Council – Ozark Branch and AIA Springfield.\nThere are dozens of different building automation systems (BAS) on the market today. Each has pros and cons\, and while they all tout their own special features\, they are functionally the same. Regardless of what type of BAS your building or campus has\, there are many things that can be done to improve comfort and efficiency. \nBut first\, we need to ask\, what is a Building Automation System (BAS)? The name pretty much explains it\, but what IS it? How does it work? Is it just about making things happen automatically? How does a BAS lead to energy savings? Attendees will gain an understanding of building automation systems and their components. They will learn details about specifying automation for their projects\, as well as best practices for maintaining\, optimizing\, and improving their current systems. \nSPEAKER\nChris Ruth\, Mid-Missouri Controls Manager\, Integrated Facility Services                               \nChris is the Mid-Missouri Controls Manager for Integrated Facility Services\, where he has worked for 17 years in various capacities. In his current role\, he designs and manages the company’s Building Automation and Energy management operations across the State of Missouri. As a Building Automation Professional\, Chris’s goal is to help building managers and owners save energy and money by giving them the knowledge and tools to manage their building’s environmental systems efficiently\, while still maintaining optimum comfort for the building’s occupants. Chris is skilled in sales\, estimating\, engineering\, project management\, design\, installation\, programming\, and support of innovative microprocessor-based networkable systems for the control and monitoring of building environments. He has over 10 years of experience with small and large group facilitation\, networking\, volunteer training and engagement\, strategic planning\, and fundraising. \n  \nADMISSION\nFREE \n  \nSCHEDULE\n5:30pm – 7:00pm Hors D’Oeuvres + Presentation at Hammons School of ArchitectureAfter the event Join us for an Allied Social with AIA Springfield at 417 Taphouse!417 Taphouse\, 431 S Jefferson Ave Ste 160\, Springfield\, MO 65806 \n  \nHOST\nMissouri Gateway Green Building Council – Ozark Branch \n  \nQUESTIONS?\nContact Chris Ruth at chrisr@intfs.com. \n  \nREGISTER NOW \n \nCONTINUING EDUCATION: \nApproved for 1 AIA LU|HSW. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify the different components of a building automation system\nDiscover different strategies for integrating building automation components together\nExplain how proper use of building automation systems can reduce energy consumption\nDemonstrate the importance of proper specification for building automation projects\n\nCONSENT TO USE OF PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGES\nThis event will be recorded and shared on our website.
