Angela Vories, Marketing Specialist & Graphic Designer, International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA)
Advocacy Committee Member since 2026
Description of your work in green building:
My work, on a broad level, is to disperse awareness about Ground Source/Geothermal Heat Pumps.
Sustainability passion:
Not gatekeeping: Passion is the fuel and curiosity is the means by which hope keeps running.
The delight I have in sharing what I learn or pursuing further education fosters conversations. These conversations cultivate a greater awareness of what is and what can be.
What inspired you to get involved with a Missouri Gateway Green Building Council committee, and what drew you to your specific committee?
I am inspired by people who intentionally work toward a better world for everyone. Especially when we can be the impact for change in our own city.
Can you share a memorable experience or project from your time on the committee that had a meaningful impact on you or the community?
After first joining the Advocacy committee, I began to see other members at events. This is encouraging as it affirms a “skin in the game” lifestyle, more than simply participating during meetings.
How has participating in a committee contributed to your professional growth or career development?
Hesitation naturally comes when advocating is unfamiliar, yet collaboration and practice is the exact place to start learning.
What skills, knowledge, or connections have you gained through your committee work?
My ‘takeaway’ so far is that there is always room to improve, and everyone is in it together. Where I don’t have expertise, there is someone who can fill the gap, or we all work together toward improving.
What would you say to someone who is considering joining a committee but isn’t sure if they have the time or expertise?
I‘d probably share the quote from Germany Kent, “If you never try, you’ll never know.”
