Panelists

Aaron Michels, Director of Operations, Energy Resources Group

Aaron Michels is the Director of Operations at Energy Resources Group (ERG), where he leads energy audits, retro-commissioning (RCx), and decarbonization planning. An active stakeholder involved with the BEIB, OBP, and Benchmarking & BEPS ordinances since 2018, he advises building owners on BEPS compliance, alternative compliance pathways, and practical strategies for reducing energy use and emissions. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a focus on habitat preservation and ecotourism in Central America, he explored ecovillage development, biofuels, and sustainable agriculture in California. After returning to St. Louis and working in organics recycling, he rejoined ERG in 2013. Since then, Aaron has helped building owners identify cost-effective solutions that cut energy waste and emissions while improving building performance. His broad experience informs a systems-oriented approach to climate and energy work, motivated by a deep concern for the planet’s future and the world our kids and grandkids will inherit.

Anica Landreneau, Global Sustainable Design Director, HOK

Anica is HOK’s global sustainable design director, serving on the firm’s board of directors and design board. Anica also serves on the Board of the New Buildings Institute and Urban Land Institute Net Zero Imperative Steering Committee. She is former Chair of the USGBC LEED Steering Committee, delivering LEED v5, and a former chair of the AIA Codes and Standards Committee, co-authoring with the AIA Blue Ribbon Panel on Codes “Disruption, Evolution, and Change: AIA’s Vision for the Future of Design and Construction”. Her testimony before US Congress and recommendations for building policies and incentives were included in the House Select Committee report “Solving the Climate Crisis: The Congressional Action Plan for a Clean Energy Economy and a Healthy, Resilient, and Just America”. Globally, Anica is a consistent speaker and delegate to the annual UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP) and the UN Environment Programme Buildings and Climate Global Forum.

Molly Corley, Director of Operations, Missouri Historical Society

Molly Corley is the Director of Operations at the Missouri Historical Society (MHS). In this role, she oversees the facilities and operations of MHS’s properties, including the Missouri History Museum, the Library and Research Center, and the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum. She plays a role in the long-range infrastructure planning at these locations, including the resiliency and energy efficiency of the HVAC systems maintaining MHS’s historic collections. Prior to this role, Molly also served as the David Lobbig Sustainability Coordinator at MHS, where she handled BEPS reporting, supported the submission of MHS’s alternative compliance plans, and led the recertification of all three public locations to Gold under LEED O+M. Before her time at MHS, she worked in various industries as a sustainability professional, including apparel and parks and recreation. She is a St. Louisan, born and raised, and proud to play a role in maintaining St. Louis history.

Rob Lochner, Vice President of Development, Midas Hospitality

Rob Lochner is Vice President of Development at Midas Hospitality, where he leads development activities from concept through occupancy, including site selection, due diligence, acquisition, zoning and permitting, design management, contractor negotiations, and owner representation. With more than 30 years of experience in real estate development, design, and construction, Rob has led commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, self storage, and retail projects throughout the country. His extensive development experience includes more than $1B in projects delivered. Prior to joining Midas Hospitality, Rob held development leadership roles with private developers such as Keeley Properties and Cullinan Properties, global REITS such as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, and Fortune 500 retailer May Department Stores.
