Join us on July 19th for a tour of the new Five Oaks on Warson community center designed by KAI. Motivated by input from city officials and residents, the center was designed to embrace its natural setting, incorporate natural materials in its construction and maximize visual connections between interior and exterior. On the tour, Beverly Tucker Knight, Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Olivette, will share more about how the center embodies sustainability from inside and out, from design, construction and operations of the building, to native landscaping and integration with the extension of the Centennial Greenway in collaboration with Great Rivers Greenway. After the tour and Q&A, we hope you can join us for a group lunch at the nearby Sugarfire Smokehouse to continue the conversation! Missouri Gateway Green Building Council is currently seeking nominations for At-Large seats on our Board of Directors. All terms begin in 2025. Nominations are due by 9 am Central Time on Monday, August 19, 2024.Self nominations are accepted and encouraged. Nominees must be a member in good standing with Missouri Gateway Green Building Council must currently serve or have previously served on a committee or as a volunteer with the organization. Review or fill out the Online Nomination Form!  For more information, please see: Nomination Guidelines Nomination Form (On-line Form) Board of Director Job Descriptions   In 2015, MGGBC shifted our board nomination and election process, and no longer hold general elections. Nominations are accepted from the membership. The Governance Committee collects nominations and ensures eligibility of nominees. The committee then consults a matrix of leadership needs to determine a slate to present to the board for approval. The committee expects to present a slate to the board for discussion at the September 2024 board meeting.

  • Seeking Mentors for the Green Schools Quest!

    Become a Green Schools Mentor and Help a Local School Go Green! Missouri Gateway Green Building Council and Missouri Environmental Education Association are looking for passionate individuals to help schools improve their students' health, reduce their environmental impact, and develop a culture of sustainability. Each school year, PreK-12 schools across Missouri and Southern Illinois are challenged to implement student-driven, no/low-cost sustainability projects at their schools with the help of Green Mentors through the Green Schools Quest. Green Mentors are a diverse group of community members and professionals who volunteer to assist schools with project ideas, implementation, and resources. Time commitment is approximately 2-5 hours per month between October and March. Mentor registration is due August 31. Make a difference in your community this school year by serving as a Green Schools Quest Mentor!
