Join Missouri Gateway Green Building Council in creating a Green Building Coloring Book that celebrates our region’s green and sustainable buildings. As part of our year-long 25-Year Anniversary Celebration, we are excited to issue a Call for Drawings to engage the community in this exciting endeavor. Help us celebrate green & healthy buildings by submitting a drawing! The deadline for submission is July 20, 2026.
Why We Need YOU
We’re hoping to feature 25 buildings in honor of our 25-year anniversary that represent a diverse distribution of green buildings. Take a moment to draw a building that means something to you or explore our lists of green buildings below if you need inspiration. Let’s show everyone that green buildings come in all shapes and sizes, are beautifully diverse and help create a built environment that supports and enhances health, equity, resilience, and sustainability for all life and communities.
What We’re Looking For
Drawings and illustrations of green buildings located in the Missouri Gateway Green Building Council territory created by individuals, firms and students also located in our territory (includes St. Louis Metro Area (MO & IL), central Missouri, southeast Missouri, and Southern Illinois).
Our preference is for drawings of buildings that have a green certification (LEED, SITES, WELL, etc.) or a green attribute.
Green / Sustainable building attributes can include: building and material reuse; sustainable landscaping like native plants and best stormwater management practices; cool and green roofs; solar panels; energy efficient heating, cooling, lighting, and appliances; access to daylight and views; and healthy indoor air quality.

How to Participate
1. Register. Please register here to receive a copy of Submission Guidelines and Rules by email. Registering does not mean you are required to submit, but it helps us to track interest and send periodic reminders as the deadline approaches.
2. Create a black and white line drawing or illustration. It may be hand drawn, digitally drawn, or generated via AI. Make sure to include white space for coloring. If your drawing is AI generated from a photograph, it must be your own photo and you must upload the photo along with the drawing.
3. Save your drawing as a PDF or high-resolution image (.jpeg or.png). It should fit the dimensions of 8.5″ x 11” in portrait format. Download Drawing Template below.
4. Complete the Submission Form and upload your drawing. Include any reference photos if your drawing was generated via AI. You may submit up to 3 entries of 3 different buildings. The individual file size limit cannot exceed 100mb.
Submission
All drawings must be submitted through our Submission Form by July 21, 2026. Selected submissions will be notified in August and the final coloring book will be available in mid-October.
Selection Process
A committee including MGGBC board members and staff will select images for the coloring book. We would like to feature 25 buildings in honor of our 25-year anniversary that represent a diverse distribution of green buildings. The Selection Committee reserves the right to choose final selections based on diversity of illustrator, building type, building age and green attributes or certifications, rather than purely on artistic quality. Due to space limitations, all submissions may not be included, and all selection decisions are final. This is intended as a FUN project engaging a diverse community of creators in showcasing and celebrating the wonderful green buildings we have here in Missouri!
