  • Connect on the Quest: A Field Guide to Climate Anxiety – How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet

    Virtual Event via Zoom

Connect on the Quest - for any climate action advocate - green school mentor - teacher - community member - all are welcome - Wednesday, February 8, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm, online. REGISTER Those inheriting our planet’s environmental problems expect to encounter challenges, but they may not have the skills to grapple with the feelings of powerlessness and despair that may arise when they confront this seemingly intractable situation. Drawing on a decade of experience leading and teaching in college environmental studies programs, Sarah Jaquette Ray has created an “existential tool kit” for youth who are reenergizing global environmental activism – the “climate generation.” Combining insights from psychology, sociology, social movements, mindfulness, and the environmental humanities, Ray explains why and how we need to let go of eco-guilt, resist burnout, and cultivate resilience while advocating for climate justice. Her new book, a Field Guide to Climate Anxiety, is the essential guidebook for the climate generation—and perhaps the rest of us—as we confront the greatest environmental threat of our time. Connect on the Quest is a virtual gathering centered on providing Green Schools Quest participants with opportunities to connect with each other and learn together. It is also open to educators… Continue Reading Connect on the Quest: A Field Guide to Climate Anxiety – How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet

  • Connect on the Quest – Connecting GSQ to Missouri Green Schools

Connect on the Quest: Connecting GSQ to Missouri Green Schools A monthly virtual speakers series sharing Green Schools Quest project stories and resources to support schools in their green schools endeavors. The March 31st Connect on the Quest will focus on Connecting Green Schools Quest to Missouri Green Schools.  Each year, students across the state implement no/low-cost sustainability projects at their schools with the help of their school sponsor and Green Mentor through the Green Schools Quest: A Project-Based Challenge. Over 200 schools have participated, many for multiple years, since the program launched in 2013. The impact of their projects is astonishing. Currently in pilot, Missouri Green Schools is a new statewide recognition program which supports schools in taking a systems-based approach to identify and advance green schools practices and which also serves as the conduit for the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools award.  The Green Schools Quest and Missouri Green Schools go hand in hand - either can be an entry point to the other and schools can participate in both simultaneously. Both include opportunities for recognition and celebrate participants’ accomplishments. In this session, we’ll walk through examples of how a school might participate in both programs simultaneously using the criteria for one to guide and… Continue Reading Connect on the Quest – Connecting GSQ to Missouri Green Schools
