The beginning of 2026 was certainly a busy time for the Missouri Gateway Green Building Council team! We’re excited to celebrate two recent awards!
Emily Andrews, MGGBC Executive Director, was recognized with the Inspiring Efficiency Award in Leadership – Industry Value by the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) in January. The IEAs recognize Midwest leaders who deliver groundbreaking advancements in energy efficiency in six categories: Leadership, Champion, Education, Impact, Marketing and Innovation. Emily’s passion for an energy efficient, sustainable built environment has resulted in tangible change. Her work led to the development of St. Louis’ Building Energy Awareness Ordinance (2017) and the Midwest’s first Building Energy Performance Standard (2020), and she has worked tirelessly to ensure that St. Louis continues to be a leader in resilient, efficient buildings. Emily accepted the award at the 2026 Midwest Energy Solutions Conference in Chicago in January.
In February, the Show-Me Green Schools suite of programs was recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools as a 2026 Best of Green Schools Award Recipient! This award was given to Show-Me Green Schools because the program serves as a model of collaboration and support for schools on their sustainability journeys. Deborah Rogers Curtis, our Green Schools Coordinator, recently accepted the award at the Green Schools Annual Conference on behalf of Missouri Gateway Green Building Council and Missouri Environmental Education Association, who co-manage the program.
