On July 26, 2022 the region saw 11 inches of rainfall within 8 hour time period, causing historic flash floods in University City and many other parts of the region. After yet another flooding incident, University City residents are working together to chart a path forward. Join us at this coffee break to learn more about the immediate and long-term actions that are being pursued. FEATURED SPEAKERS: Robert E. Criss is Professor Emeritus of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, and currently serves on the University City Stormwater Commission. After earning his PhD at Caltech in 1981, he was an isotope geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, then was Professor of Geology at UC Davis, and has been at Washington University since 1994. He is author of Principles of Stable Isotope Distribution (Oxford University Press, 1999) and co-editor of several books including At the Confluence: Rivers, Floods and Water Quality in the St. Louis Region.
